You may know me, but for those who don’t, my name is Tony Tye and I was elected as your new Commodore at the recent AGM. I have been a member of the club for about a year and a half now, and during this time have found myself gradually becoming more involved with the helping and organising of events.
Together with Mark Savill, our new Vice Commodore, and the rest of the Committee, we hope to make a difference to the club with more events being held, both sailing and social. We have recently organised a Streaker open meeting, alongside our Solo open on 22nd June, and also the National 12 class “12 Fest”, an open event for the National 12’s over the weekend 6th and 7th July. More events will hopefully follow. However, we will not be able to run these events, and any others, ourselves and will need and would greatly appreciate any help from you as a member.
We are also looking to increase the number of members and will be holding 2 New Members Days, on 5th May and 1st September. We will be combining the RYA Push the Boat Out 2019 event with the New Members Day on 5th May, and also inviting a local canoe club.
We are planning to make some improvements to the club house and grounds, but this is in the early stages and we will provide details for your comments in due course.
Best regards
Tony
Commodore 2019-2020
