Family & Social Sailing

These are family-friendly events that take place on at least one Sunday afternoon a month from May to October. See the Club Calendar for full details. You can volunteer to do a social sailing duty just as you would for a racing session.  If there is enough interest and members prepared to do the necessary duties, the club will put on more sessions during the course of the warmer months.

The atmosphere is relaxed enough for you to do what you want providing you stay in sight of the rescue boat if you want to be eligible for rescue. These sessions are great for informal coaching be it parents teaching their kids or adults crewing and helming on each others' boats. Boat swaps have also been known!

The Safety boat is out, various club boats are available for use and hopefully a few of the 'older hands' are available to help you with any nautical conundrums!!

The safety boat helm normally organises an easy course for beginners to negotiate.

Many families arrive within the hour before to picnic and chat before getting on the water for some fun.

If you're interested in finding out more or getting involved with Family & Social Sailing please do contact the Social Sailing Secretary socialsailing@ardleighsc.co.uk.
