9 Dec 2021 - Covid 19 Omicron

I was hoping that we would never have to mention Covid again but hay ho.

At present the new rules introduced by the government have not effected us, but it is in our own interests to keep safe, so if you can come dressed ready to race, please do so & social distance as much as possible.

The changing rooms will remain open ( Social Distance )

The Galley & Club House will remain open.

Racing will be getting under way on Easter Sunday April 4th & I would like to invite any winter members with their boat sill at Ardleigh to join in with us.

We will also be in need of volunteers to staff the race hut & safety boat (if anyone can remember how to do it) dutyman is up & running if you would like to put yourself forward.

Let’s hope this is the end of lockdowns & we can get back to what we enjoy the most.

I can’t wait to meet you all again back on the water .

Best Regards

Following the Governments announcement we have received notification from Anglian Water that we are to close the water to all activities with immediate effect.

We are aware of how disappointing this is to all members, existing and visiting, but as a committee are in full support of this decision. It is important that we all do what is necessary to stay safe.

We have not closed the site but want all to be aware of the guidelines and to stay home unless unnecessary.

As always the situation will continue to be reviewed and you will all be advised when there are changes.

Further to the government’s announcement on Saturday, the committee have met and discussed the impact that it will have on the club.

The Latest legislation states that Outdoor sports centres and amenities (which includes sailing clubs and water sports centres) will have to close. So that means that we will be closing the club to members with immediate effect until the lockdown is lifted and there will be no access to the clubhouse or buildings.

Members may have access to their boats for essential checks and maintenance to ensure that they are correctly prepared for winter storage and to leave as soon as the work is done. Individuals must take personal responsibility for following the government guidance, ensuring that they do not meet or mix with any others from other households.

Remember that we are all only to take essential journeys, so please only visit the club if you need to do essential work on your boat.

Contact the committee here (this is the same email to use for general questions about our reopening measures)

The committee is in constant communication and still holds monthly meetings (digitally) to check on the exact situation, we are doing our best to represent the interests of our members in this difficult time.

Thanks to some of our wonderful members we have found some virtual sailing activities to do online whilst we cant use the water, you can find them here!
